Tyne Coast College was created over two years ago from the merger of South Tyneside College, Tyne Metropolitan College, Queen Alexandra Sixth Form and South Shields Marine School.

We offer a vast range of educational opportunities for those aged 14 to adults - including A levels, vocational programmes, apprenticeships, Higher Education and specialist maritime training. Our portfolio is multi award winning with national accolades and a global outstanding reputation for maritime provision. As a strong proactive voice in the North East we are passionate about providing a dynamic and diverse curriculum brimming with the essential academic and vocational skills’ training that enables students to progress on to their chosen careers.

Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College has made the A level grade once again – with virtually perfect pass rates.

Seventy-five students helped the North Shields college gain a stunning overall pass rate of 98.6%.

They include Lauren Collins, 18, from Howden, who has won a place at Cambridge University with 3 A* grades in law, psychology and history.

Daniel Blacklock, 18, gained A* in maths and physics, and Lauren Hallewell, also 18, achieved A* in law and business and an A in sociology.

And Max Ramage, 19, has won a place at Newcastle University after gaining A* in psychology and business and an A in maths.

New appointed head at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College

Cross-curricular expert Joanne Chadwick has been appointed the new head of Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College.
Joanne, 36, aims to continue the pursuit of educational excellence for school-leavers attending Queen Alexandra, one of England’s best performing sixth forms.
