North East Sports Academy (NESA)

One of the great advantages of being a student at Queen Alexandra is that you can automatically become part of the North East Sports Academy (NESA).

NESA provides professional coaching in a whole range of sports, including men’s and women’football, rugby, basketball and badminton.

NESA has official links with Newcastle Eagles, Newcastle United Women’s Football Club and Northumbria University.

Taking advantage of this sports experience has other benefits too such as up to 10 hours of professional coaching a week, gym access, strength and conditioning support, physio support and subsidised sports kits.

Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College has made the A level grade once again – with virtually perfect pass rates.

Seventy-five students helped the North Shields college gain a stunning overall pass rate of 98.6%.

They include Lauren Collins, 18, from Howden, who has won a place at Cambridge University with 3 A* grades in law, psychology and history.

Daniel Blacklock, 18, gained A* in maths and physics, and Lauren Hallewell, also 18, achieved A* in law and business and an A in sociology.

And Max Ramage, 19, has won a place at Newcastle University after gaining A* in psychology and business and an A in maths.


New appointed head at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College

Cross-curricular expert Joanne Chadwick has been appointed the new head of Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College.
Joanne, 36, aims to continue the pursuit of educational excellence for school-leavers attending Queen Alexandra, one of England’s best performing sixth forms.
