Get ready to step up 'A' level at our December Open Event

School-leavers can pick up prizes galore at an exciting A level information event at a highly rated North East college.

Gifts are up for grabs to attendees of Queen Alexandra Sixth Form’s open evening, between 4.45pm and 7pm on Tuesday, December 7.

Items at the ‘Step-up A Level Open Event’ include Waterstones and Amazon vouchers, a hamper packed with essential stationery items, and chocolates.

But the college says the best prize of all is the chance to speak to tutors about the range of career-enhancing courses available from September.

They include maths, law, physics, business studies, history, media studies, psychology, criminology and English literature, applied science, biology and sociology.

Current Year 11 pupils can get full advice about enrolling by taking part in the event at Queen Alexandra’s Coast Road Campus, in Battle Hill Drive, North Tyneside.

Joanne Chadwick, Head of Sixth Form, Business and Sport, said: “We can’t wait to welcome potential new students.

“Our teaching teams are very excited to have the opportunity to meet Year 11 pupils.

“They will be there to give them all the advice they need to take the step into Further Education.

“We are very proud of the consistently high standard of teaching we give to all our pupils.

“It leads to many other important learning and employment options for them.

“Gaining A level qualifications with us opens the door to university or other exciting career opportunities.

“A range of super prizes can be won on the night, but I hope potential A level students will be more interested in talking to our teams about the courses they can take next year.”

Final year school pupils are asked to be at Queen Alexandra at 4.45pm for a 5pm start.

The main event will feature talks by Joanne and a high-achieving former pupil.

There will be demonstrations of what study involves in several curriculum areas, and information about study options for students who require additional learning support.

Would-be sixth formers can also find out about the prestigious North East Sports Academy, which operates at the college.

To whet appetites further, catering specialist Sodexo will be offering refreshments which include cakes, tea and coffee.
