Physics explores the nature of the Universe from the very small (Particle Physics) to the very large (Astrophysics). You will explore materials, motion, energy and forces, which will help with progression into different engineering disciplines.
You will be challenged by the mysteries of quantum physics and relativity, guided by our award-winning Physics teacher. Your experience of Physics could well change the way you view the world around you.
5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 including grade 6 in Maths, grade 6 in Double Science or grade 6 in Physics
Particle physics, wave-particle duality, waves, forces, energy and momentum, projectile motion, materials, and current electricity.
Circular motion, Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM), the kinetic theory of gases, thermal physics, electric, magnetic and gravitational fields, capacitors, Nuclear Physics, and Astrophysics.
Higher Education – Engineering, Physics and other Science-related courses and degrees.
Careers include: Meteorology, radiography, energy resources and conservation, medical physics, teaching and engineering.
Students complete 12 core practicals over the two-year course, but these do not contribute to the final grade. Completion of these practical will lead to the award of the Practical Endorsement.
