The A level in PE is designed to allow students to demonstrate their excellence in a practical sport setting whilst developing their specialist knowledge in areas such as Anatomy and Physiology, Skill Acquisition, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics and Sports Psychology.
As well as classroom-based learning, you will also have the opportunity to visit local universities, sports centres, deliver practical based sports sessions on course and in local schools to add in the essential practical element to your studies.
You will also gain valuable access to the college physiology lab, developing your knowledge and skills in a scientific and clinical manner.
This course is ideal for individuals who are looking to combine sports studies (in particular with science-based A levels such as chemistry and biology) who are pursuing a career in exercise physiology, biomechanics, physiotherapy or sports therapy, sports psychology or performance analysis potentially within a multidisciplinary team.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, in particular with Maths, English and Science.
A keen interest in practical sport and sport/sport and exercise science would also be beneficial.
An interview with the course leader and a reference from a personal tutor will also be required.
