In virtually all areas of science, industry and commerce, mathematics plays a key role. During your A Level course you will develop your understanding of algebra, statistics and mechanics. There is an emphasis on problem solving and you will learn about proof and mathematical modelling.
Maths is fun, interesting, challenging and highly rewarding. It encourages you to break down big problems into smaller parts and think these through logically to find an overall solution. Studying this maths course will set you up for Higher Education and a great career.
5 GCSE grades 9 to 4, including at least a Grade 7 in Maths.
The majority of the course consists of pure mathematics (algebra, graphs, trigonometry, calculus) but you will also study statistics (data handling) and mechanics (the mathematics of physics).
Higher Education options include: Mathematics, Sciences, Statistics, Engineering, Business, Economics and Social Sciences.
Careers include: Accountant, Architect, Banker, Engineer, Games Designer, Pilot, Programmer, Researcher, Scientist and Statistician.
Examinations at the end of each year.
