Course Overview

A robust legal system is the foundation of a fair society. If you feel strongly about concepts like justice and equality then this A Level course could be very rewarding for you.



Studying Law gives students an understanding of the role of law in society and raises awareness of the rights and responsibilities of individuals.

By learning about legal rules, students develop analytical ability, decision making, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

5 GCSEs graded 9 to 4 including grade 6 or higher in English Language and History.

In this course you’ll see how law is formed, how it works and how it solves disputes. You’ll study the English Legal System, the main principles of law, and visit Crown and Magistrates’ Courts to get a full understanding of the law in action.

  • Tort law

Paper 3

  • Nature of law and the English legal system
  • Contract law or human rights

Higher Education – Law then Legal Practice Course and Training Contract to be a Solicitor or Barrister.

Careers include: Barrister, Solicitor, Judge, Police Officer, Teacher, Accountant, Archaeologist, Librarian or Journalist as well as many business-related vocations.

Exam-based assessment at end of second year – three exams. Internally assessed exams end of first year.
