Course Overview

Unlock secrets of the past and delve into the history of cultures and events from across the world with A Level History.

The course provides a real academic challenge and offers you the chance to develop your knowledge and understanding of today’s world by learning of events in time gone by as well as the present. A Level History fosters debate and encourages all learners to develop their thinking skills and knowledge about the past.

 

 

 

You’ll discover how previous events have shaped the world we know today and decide for yourself what would have happened if things had been different. You will investigate a variety of sources to evidence your work and develop essential expertise such as independent thinking and organisational skills.

5 GCSEs graded 9 to 4 including grade 6 or higher in English Language and History.

AS – 1D Stuart Britain and the Crisis of Monarchy and 2O Democracy and Nazism: Germany 1918-1045

A Level – As AS but additional coursework component Conflict and Revolution in the Americas c. 1845-1960

History is one of the most adaptable A level choices and allows students to access a range of university courses and careers.

University courses include: History, Archaeology, Politics, Economics, Classical Civilisation, Business, Psychology.

Careers include: teaching, lecturing, politics, museum work, librarian, archaeologist, management consultant, lawyer, police, journalism, PR, marketing

AS – two one and a half hour written examinations.

A Level – two written papers of two and a half hours and coursework (3000 – 3500 words).
