Course Overview

If you fancy yourself as a film buff and are interested in the cinema industry then you’ll love this course.

As well as gaining an appreciation of film as an art form in terms of its visual storytelling, studying film can enhance your understanding of the world in terms of competing values, attitudes and beliefs. Our course also incorporates a creative production element where you will be able to put what you have learnt into practice by making a short film or writing a screenplay.



The course is designed to deepen your understanding and enjoyment of British and American cinema. You’ll explore a wide range of films, develop skills of observation, critical analysis and personal reflection.

5 GCSEs Grade A* to C (9 to 4).

AS/A level – Exploring film form, British and American film, film research and creative projects and a variety of film experiences, issues and debates.

FE/HE options include Film and Media-related degrees or HNC/HND qualification Art-related Degree.

Careers include: film production, TV editing, special effects technician, Journalism, PR and Marketing.

AS/A Level – Combination of exams and one piece of practical course work.
