Extended Diploma in Management and Leadership – Level 5

Course Overview

These higher level apprenticeship qualifications are aimed at practising or aspiring managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager or business owner. The primary role of a practising or aspiring manager and leader is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver aims and objectives in line with organisational strategy.

Roles and responsibilities may also include but are not limited to developing teams and individuals, creating operational plans, planning and managing projects, managing change, managing finance, resources and identifying new approaches to business activities, managing quality and continuous improvement as well as managing the human resources function.

 

 

Typical Units

Our qualifications are broken down into units and relevant topics aligned to the level and qualification. Typical units for the Level 5 Management and Leadership qualification are:

  • Principles of Management and Leadership in an organisational context
  • Principles of developing, managing and leading individuals and teams to achieve success
  • Managing stakeholder relationships
  • Managing projects to achieve results
  • Managing change
  • Creating and delivering operational plans
  • Managing finance

How long do apprenticeships last?

Apprenticeships can last anywhere from one to four years.

How many hours will I work for?

Apprentices will work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

How long will I study at college for?

All apprenticeships are different. Some apprentices could spend four days at work and one day at college, whilst others could spend several weeks at work and a week at college. A designated work-based tutor will be on hand throughout your apprenticeship and will be able to give guidance.

How much will I get paid?

The minimum wage for apprentices is £4.30 per hour for your first year, though many employers pay more. After your first year this rises to the national minimum wage for your age, if you are 19 or older.

Am I entitled to holidays?

You are entitled to 20 days of paid holidays a year, as well as bank holidays.
