Sport & Humanities at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form
Humanities
The humanities programmes offered at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form are History, Archaeology, Government & Politics, Sociology, Psychology and Geography. Students can expect a broad range of teaching and learning methods across these diverse subject areas.
Humanities qualifications are highly regarded by universities. The subjects are all intellectually demanding and require students to challenge themselves academically, actively applying their new knowledge to analyse and conclude; a fact that is also appreciated by employers.
Sport
Physical Education allows students to experience sport beyond the purely physical. Programmes explore anatomy; physiological, psychological and socio-cultural influences that have an impact on participation and performance in physical activities; the barriers that can prevent participation in sport and how these can be overcome.
Alongside their theoretical work, students have the opportunity to challenge their own physical abilities, pushing themselves to achieve new successes in their chosen sports. Preparations for the Olympics and Paralympics London 2012 are well underway; a fact that will be reflected across PE programmes.
