Here at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College, we want to give you the best possible start to your career by offering a range of activities outside of your chosen subject areas. This means that in addition to your academic qualifications, you can get involved in loads of opportunities which are fun and help make your experience even more appealing to universities and potential employers.
Throughout your time at College the kind of activities and events you can look forward to getting involved with include:
As great as Queen Alexandra is, it’s good to go off-campus sometimes! There’s a range of exchanges and fieldtrips across many of the A Level courses on offer. Visits include Poland for History students, Blencathra for Geography students, the House of Commons for Sociology students and many more trips across the UK for various subjects.
Art students visit local galleries like BALTIC and The Laing. Students also get the chance to attend university open days in preparation for Higher Education.
At various points across the year, local and national MPs have visited Queen Alexandra to host live debates, giving students the opportunity to get involved in topical debates.
Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College has developed some close links with universities across the country and organises inward visits to make it as easy as possible for our A Level students to find out more about the next steps in their education.
Queen Alexandra’s dedicated charity is the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) North East, which was chosen by our students in 2011 during our charities week event. There are a number of fundraising activities across the year in aid of TCT and other local charities at regular fundraising events and open days which students and the local community can get involved in.
