Course content

Use of Maths is an AS Level Maths qualification, which is not quite as difficult as AS Level Maths. This programme is suitable for students who do not intend to be specialist Mathematicians but who want to learn how to apply advanced Mathematics and Statistics in real and interesting contexts.

AS Use of Maths is designed to support courses that have a mathematical content, such as Sciences. The Statistics module also supports students studying humanities subjects such as Sociology and Psychology.

Study Units
AS - There are 3 modules:

  • Working with Algebra and Graphical Techniques
  • Using and Applying Statistics
  • Applying Mathematics

The emphasis is on application and students are encouraged to apply the Mathematics that they learn to their other studies and interests.
