Course requirements

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade A* to C including Grade B in Maths, Grade BB in Double Science or Grade B in Physics and Maths.

Assessment
AS/A2 - Two module tests, one in January and one in the summer term representing 40% each of your mark. The other 20% is in the form of a practical test.

Course content

Physics is all about discovering how things behave the way they do. You’ll look at how things work, from those smaller than a nucleus to things as large as a star or even a galaxy. Physics makes many connections to everyday life, people and society. This course can lead to some very exciting career paths.

Study Units
AS - Electricity and Quantum Phenomena, Mechanics, Materials and Waves.

A2 - Fields – Gravity, Electromagnetic and Further Mechanics. Nuclear Physics – Heat and Optics with an option such as Astrophysics.

Progression and Careers

Higher Education – Physics, Engineering, Electronics related courses and degrees. Potential careers include Meteorology, Radiography, Energy Resources and Conservation, Medical Physics, Teaching or Engineering.
