Physical Education (PE)

Study the importance of health for the human Body, PE is a way to understand that exercise is key for long and healthy living

Course requirements

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade A* to C including Grade B in Science and you must play competitive sport.

Assessment
AS - 60% written exam, 40% practical and coursework.

A2 - 65% written exam, 35% practical and coursework, half of your AS grade carries over to A2.

Course content

If you have a genuine interest in Sport, studying Physical Education at AS and A2 Level will take you through everything from the active elements of sport and how the body works. You'll investigate the scientific aspects of the subject with a mix of theoretical work, understanding performance and a healthy active lifestyle. Field trips include, 'Go Ape!' and Centre for Life workshops.

AS - Anatomy and Physiology, Socio-Cultural Studies, Acquiring Movement Skills and Practical and Coursework.

A2 - Historic Studies, Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology and Practical and Coursework.

Progression and Careers

Higher Education – Sport Science, Development, Management, Physiotherapy, Coaching

Careers – PE Teaching, Sports Coaching, Physiotherapy, Armed Forces and other Uniformed Services.
