5 GCSEs Grade A* to C.

Study Units
AS - Rivers and Flood Management; Cold or Coastal Environments; Population Change; Geographical Skills.

A2 - Two topics from: Plate Techtonics; Weather or Ecosystems. Two topics from: World Cities; Development and Globalisation; Contemporary Conflict and Challenges; Field Investigation and issue evaluation.

Assessment
AS - Coursework / Two exams – 70% of marks. Fieldwork - 30% of marks.

A2 - Coursework / Two exams – 60% of marks. Fieldwork – 40% of marks.

Course content

Geography has never been more topical with stories in the news about earthquakes, volcanoes and global warming. This course gives you a solid grounding in Physical and Human Geography. With a mix of theory and fieldwork it offers you the freedom in A2 to choose your own area of research. Topics you’ll cover include environments, ecosystems, world cities, energy and health issues.

Higher Education – Human or Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Geology, Cartography, Geomorphology, Remote Sensing.

Careers can include Teaching, Law, Social Services, Environmental Services, Advertising or an Urban Planner.
