Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade A* to C, including English Language at Grade B and English Literature at Grade C.

Study Units
AS - Topics include a literature study of Homer’s 'The Odyssey' and 'Women in Athens and Rome'.

A2 - The role of myth and legend.

Assessment
AS /A2 - Two written exams.

Course content

This is the course where you’ll get an insight into heroes, monsters and Gods! Classical Civilisation combines elements of literature, history, theatre, politics, philosophy, law and sociology. Through gaining an understanding of the classical world, you will be better equipped to understand our own culture and civilisation. There is a visit to Newcastle University for a series of lectures on various topics from their Classics department.

Higher Education – Classics, History or Literature related Degree.

Careers include Archaeologist, Historian or Teacher.
