Course requirements

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade A* to C including Grade BB in Double Science or Grade B in Chemistry and Maths.

Study Units
AS - Atoms, Bonds and Groups Chains, Energy and Resources Practical Skills in Chemistry 1.

A2 - Rings, Polymers and Analysis Equilibria, Energetics and Elements Practical Skills in Chemistry 2.

Assessment
AS/A2 - Two written exams worth 80% of total marks and structured practical activities worth 20% of total marks.

Course content

You’ve probably heard the phrase, "it’s not rocket science!" Well, if you want to do some rocket science you’ll have to use Chemistry! If you’re interested in a career in Medicine or Pharmacy then Chemistry is a must. You’ll learn how Chemistry is used in the world around us and also develop many skills which are highly valued by a wide range of employers including problem solving, data analysis, numeracy and communications.
