"Unlike some other schools and colleges, we only teach A Levels, which means that you benefit from dedicated A Level teaching and the best possible support to achieve your goals. We’re extremely proud of our AS and A Level results with 100% pass rate across a broad range of subjects and a large proportion of high grades across some difficult subject areas, including STEM subjects such as Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Queen Alexandra is a grown up environment with inspirational teaching and excellent results to prepare you for progression to university and your dream career."
Denise Bolton, Head of Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College
Queen Alexandra offers a wide range of AS and A2 courses in a friendly dedicated Sixth Form College giving you the independence to learn in a fully supported environment.
You can pick the subjects that you enjoy and those which fit in with your career plans. Even if you are not sure where you want to go in life, we can help you to broaden your skills and experience to progress to Higher Education at college or university, or to go straight into employment.
You will study four AS Level subjects in your first year (depending on your GCSE grades) and then continue with three A2 Level subjects in your second year to gain full A Level qualifications. You will also follow a functional skills programme (Maths and English) alongside your chosen subjects.
When choosing your A Level subjects, it’s important to make sure that you select the best options for you to secure a good grade as well as choosing subjects that you will enjoy. The College’s Student Advisors will help you to combine the right subjects to get you onto a particular degree course, as well as advice on completing UCAS forms or guidance to get you into your dream career.
Every student is allocated a Pastoral Tutor who will be there to help with your Personal Learning Plan and keep you on track for success. Tutorials are part of your timetable to ensure that your progress can be tracked and that you are fully supported throughout your course.
Our Pastoral Tutors have knowledge and experience to offer support whilst encouraging you to be independent and self-motivated.
Working with your Pastoral Tutor will help you to manage college work and ensure that your future goals are kept on track through regular one-to-one contact. This helps you to become better equipped to meet future employers’ requirements and be ready to progress onto higher education courses at college or university.
