Introduction to Furniture Recycling

This 10 week course will run 5-8pm on Tuesday's in specialist workshop environments at the Creative Studios.

There’s no need to buy new furniture – upcycle, and customise it to your own specifications. It's thrifty, creative, and easier than you might think!

We will spend the first few weeks exploring techniques and constructing a wine rack from scrap wood. You will learn how to identify craft ideas informed by the work of others, discuss your ideas with the group and make a plan for your own personal project. This will involve using basic drawing and rendering to record your ideas. You will keep Health & Safety record of the process.

Your progress will be recorded with a personal diary and photographs. You will spend the remaining sessions working on your personal projects and presented in an exhibition at the end of the course.

You may work on one or more small pieces of furniture that you will need to provide. There are limited places so that we can give you all of our attention.

Please note that we will not be covering upholstery techniques.
