Capturing a moment and changing the way you and others see things through incredible photography is a great skill to develop. Share your creative perspective with a university-level qualification in photography at the Creative Studios, on the College’s Queen Alexandra Campus in North Shields.

This HNC in Photography provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the photography sector.

You will develop a broader contextual understanding of practitioners in your subject area, building visual communication skills and developing your practice creatively. Studies will allow you to further develop your technical skills and develop your own personal style.

  • Studio practice in photography
  • Darkroom practice in photography

Teaching and assessment

The course is delivered through studio sessions with feedback and constructive critique, as well as through practical workshops, demonstrations, formal lectures, seminars, visits, and individual and group projects.

Progression & careers

The HNC Photography qualification equips you with a range of transferable skills, including communication and analysis. These skills are valuable to many different types of employers who look for people with proven creativity and initiative. Progression from this qualification may be into or within employment in the photography sector or onto the Level 5 HND in Photography.
